This easy oven barbecue rib method delivers deliciously tender, juicy ribs with little effort.
Makes: 4-5 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 2 hrs. 45 min.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ to 3 lbs. baby back ribs (about 2 full slabs)
- Salt and pepper or spice rub
- Barbecue sauce
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- Remove the thin membrane covering the back of the rack, if it hasn’t been removed. (Or ask your butcher to remove it.)
- Cut each full slab in half. Season ribs on both sides with salt and pepper or spice rub. Wrap each half slab in aluminum foil.
- Place wrapped ribs, meatiest side up, on a rimmed baking sheet.
- Bake the ribs until the meat falls easily from the bones, about 2 ½ hours. Ribs are done when the meat is cooked through and tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
- Open aluminum foil packets and brush ribs with barbecue sauce. Return to oven for 10-12 minutes until sauce caramelizes on the ribs. Serve with extra barbecue sauce.
Tips
- To remove the membrane, place the ribs meat-side-down on a cutting board. Locate the thin membrane that covers the rack. Using a small knife, gently slide the knife under the membrane and pull the membrane away from the bones using your fingers.
- To double the recipe can be doubled using 2 rimmed baking sheets. Cook time remains the same.
