Expired LINK Tokens: What To do

If you use your LINK card at the Downtown Farmers Market to obtain tokens (accepted as cash by most vendors,) this is an important note about using last year’s tokens at this year’s market.

Short answer: You can’t use them, but you can redeem them for current tokens. Market Manager Myra Gorman explains.

“We cycle through different token colors each year for a variety of administrative reasons. This year’s tokens are white and purple. They are the only tokens valid for use at the market.

“If you kept any of the blue and green tokens from 2012, you need to bring them to the City of Evanston booth at the southwest corner of the market. We’ll happily exchange them for current tokens, dollar for dollar. However, vendors will NOT accept the old tokens.

Don’t forget that you’ll receive 50% matching funds when you use your LINK card at the market, thanks to Friends and a grant from the Northshore University Healthsystem.
